3 C sugar
2 C chopped dried dates
1 C whole milk
1 1/2 C nuts, chopped fine
Cook sugar & milk over low flame, stirring constantly until sugar dissolves. Increase heat & cook to soft ball stage. Add dates & cook 2 - 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from fire, cool 5 minutes. Beat til mix begins to thicken. Add chopped nuts & beat until firm enough to roll, about 1 1/2 inches in diameter. Wrap candy in damp cloth & let stand until very firm. Unwrap and slice.
